How to play “Fortnite”

“Fortnite Battle Royale,” or simply Fortnite for short, was first released in 2017 as an early access title on PC only. The following year, it launched on Xbox One before finally coming out of beta with its full release across most major platforms (except Nintendo Switch) at some point during 2018. Since then, over 125 million people have played the game worldwide! It’s been one hell of a ride so far…

“Fortnite” is a free-to-play game released back in September 2017. Since then, it has amassed millions of fans worldwide, and it shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. With hundreds of thousands of players joining every day, the game has become one of the biggest phenomena in recent history. Nowadays, it can be found on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Mac, iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, Amazon Fire TV, and more platforms.

But what exactly is “Fortnite“? Well, it’s a battle royale game in which you compete against 99 other players in a shrinking arena. Your goal is to stay alive until the final moment of the match, when the last player standing wins. You can build structures and defend yourself from other players using traps and turrets.

Now that we’ve gotten our introduction out of the way, let me explain how I came up with this article idea. A few days ago, my friend told me he wanted to start playing Fortnite. He asked if I knew anything about it, which led us here.

After reading through countless wiki pages, forum posts, and reviews, I realized something important: no matter what website you visit, they’ll all tell you basically the same thing—how to download and install the game, where to find weapons and other items, etc.—but none of them talk about actually playing the game itself.

This made sense because many sites are primarily focused on news articles and guides rather than actual games themselves, but it still left me wanting more information. That’s why I decided to write this guide. I hope it helps anyone who wants to get into the game, whether it be your friends, children, grandchildren, cousins, or whoever else you want to introduce to the world of “Fortnite”!

1) First things first, how to install the game.

Before we go any further, though, let’s take a look at the main things you need to do in order to get started. As mentioned earlier, Fortnite can be downloaded from their official site. Just head over to fortnite.com and click the big blue button marked “Play Now!” Once you’re inside, make sure you select “I’m not a robot” to prevent malicious bots from messing with your account. Then, follow the instructions until you reach the page shown below.

As you can see, you need to create an account using either Facebook, Google+, or email. If you choose to use your email address, just enter a password of your choice and type it twice to confirm it. Then, fill out the rest of the form and click “Create Account.” Next, you should receive an activation code via email.

The last step is simple: copy/paste the activation code provided in your email onto the screen, and you’ll be ready to start playing. From now on, whenever you log in to your account, you won’t need to re-enter your password. Instead, you’ll have to input your unique login key, which you’ll get when creating your account.

2) What are the basic controls?

It goes without saying that every player has different preferences regarding the way they like to control the character, so this section will focus on how to move around in general. Keep in mind that these instructions may differ slightly depending on which version of the game you’re currently playing.

For starters, you can move freely around the map using WASD keys (for those using Windows PCs or Macs). On consoles, however, players can only move by using the analog stick. Additionally, if you hold down the right trigger, your character will run faster. This feature can also be found on PC, but unlike console users, you can turn it off. One of the most common questions newbies ask is: how do I pick up stuff? Well, the answer depends on what you want to grab. If you aim directly at an item, you can easily target it and press the corresponding button to collect it. Alternatively, you can simply walk towards an object and tap the right thumbstick while holding down the action button (or A button, depending on the platform you’re using). Note that it takes a bit longer to do this than it does to simply aim and shoot.

In addition, you can use the jump button (default X) to quickly ascend and descend from high places, such as roofs, walls, and ceilings. For example, you can leap over obstacles to get to higher ground, or perform long jumps by jumping multiple times consecutively. Lastly, if you don’t feel like using the default control scheme, you can always change it by pressing the settings icon in the lower-left corner of the screen and selecting “Control Scheme” under the “General” tab.

3) Where can I find loot and materials in Fortnite?

Loot refers to the random items you’ll encounter throughout the course of the match. These include weapons, shields, armor, consumables, and other miscellaneous objects. Materials, on the other hand, refer to resources that you can gather in order to build structures and vehicles. Here are a few examples: wood, brick, metal, glass, and stone.

To find loot, you must first explore the area and search for chests, treasure boxes, supply drops, and vending machines. To locate a chest, look closely at any wooden structure or wall. Some of them even have a little red flag next to them.

You can also try opening a chest that’s already open and looking inside to reveal its contents. If you happen upon an empty container, you might want to check nearby buildings or trees. They sometimes contain ammo crates, healing potions, and other useful items.

Another good way to find loot is to land on a roof or ledge. Loot tends to appear in the sky above, which makes it easy to spot and reach. Remember, you can also look for signs on the ground, which indicate where the nearest loot spawns are located. You can learn more about this system here.

As for materials, you can find them almost anywhere, including houses, buildings, and even cars. However, keep in mind that they can only be gathered from structures with three or more floors.

4) What are the different types of guns and weapons?

As I previously mentioned, Fortnite offers players access to dozens of different weapons, each of which has a different effect on enemies and can be used in a variety of situations. For instance, you can use shotguns to destroy groups of opponents, snipers to deal damage from afar, SMGs to eliminate targets with accuracy, and rocket launchers to blow away anyone standing too close.

Here’s a quick list of the most popular weapons:

• Shotguns: A staple weapon, shotguns can kill multiple foes at once. Their shells travel slowly and bounce a lot, making them difficult to aim precisely, but they inflict plenty of damage.

• Sniper Rifles: These long-range weapons have slow firing speeds and low ammunition counts, but their bullets deal a ton of damage when they hit. They’re great for eliminating players hiding behind cover.

• Assault Rifles: One of the best all-around weapons in the game, assault rifles are ideal for taking out large groups of enemies in a single shot. They’re especially effective against armored targets, such as zombies.

• Pistols: Small, compact, and relatively weak, pistols are the weakest weapons in Fortnite. They’re usually used for close-quarter combat and dealing light amounts of damage.

• Light Machine Guns: Like SMGs, LMGs aren’t the most powerful, but they pack enough punch to wipe out hordes of opponents. Plus, they fire very quickly, allowing you to take down multiple enemies in one shot.

• Rocket Launchers: When it comes to sheer power, nothing beats rocket launchers. They can destroy most buildings and vehicles instantly, causing massive explosions. If you’re planning to play a long time, you’ll probably want to buy one.

• Grenade Launchers: The only drawback to grenade launchers is the fact that they can only throw one grenade at a time. Otherwise, they’re extremely versatile, capable of killing multiple enemies with a single blast.

5) What’s the difference between Fortnite’s different modes?

“Fortnite Battle Royale” is the core mode of the game, which pits 100 players against each other in an ever-shrinking arena. Players can scavenge for loot while trying to stay alive for as long as possible. The objective is to be the last person remaining after everyone else has been eliminated.

“Save the World” is an alternative cooperative campaign mode that puts players in the role of heroes tasked with saving the world from evil villains. It’s similar to “Battle Royale,” except that you’re able to build your own bases, defend them from waves of monsters, and level up your characters’ skills. You can also team up with other players to form parties.

“Battle Royale Creative Mode” lets you create your own custom maps and game modes with unlimited resources. You can then share your creations online with friends or strangers, giving rise to infinite possibilities!

6) What are the basic rules of “Fortnite”?

When it comes to gameplay, Fortnite follows a fairly straightforward format. The match begins with 99 players parachuting onto a giant island, where they begin looting and exploring. Everyone starts on equal footing, meaning you don’t need to worry about having any advantages over your opponents. However, some people may end up finding better weapons and gear than others. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll win the match. It all depends on how well they use their newfound equipment.

That being said, here are a few important rules you need to remember:

• All players start on an equal footing. There are no unfair advantages. Every player has access to the same resources, regardless of their wealth or status in society.

• Players have to survive. As long as you’re still alive, you can fight to the death against your enemies. That means staying away from danger and building defenses in strategic locations.

• Victory royales are decided based on total kills. You need to eliminate at least 10 players before you can claim victory. If you manage to accomplish this feat, your name will be displayed on the leaderboard, alongside your total number of kills.

• Fortnite is played across several game modes. Each one requires different tactics, so make sure you choose the right one depending on how much experience you have.

7) Cheats

I’m guessing you’ve heard that Fortnite has tons of cheat codes. I mean, it would be weird if it didn’t, right? After all, cheating in video games has been around since the early days of Pong. And, according to some estimates, around 30% of players use hacks, mods, bots, and other tools to help them improve their chances of winning.

While I personally don’t agree with hacking or using any sort of mod in Fortnite (unless you really have no choice), I realize that it’s an option that some players may prefer. So, I figured it was only fair to mention it here.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found any working Fortnite cheats myself. Maybe you’ll fare better?

8) Is it legal to download Fortnite?

Since Fortnite is free to play, you can easily download it from Epic Games’ official website. Just click here to go straight to the installer. No matter what platform you’re using (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, etc.), you should be able to install it without any problems.

9) Conclusion

By now, it’s clear that Fortnite has become an absolute phenomenon. Millions of people around the globe are playing it every day, while countless others are watching videos and streams of their favorite streamers and YouTubers. While it’s hard to say whether Fortnite will eventually surpass Minecraft, League of Legends, or even Habbo in terms of popularity, it’s safe to assume that it won’t be long until it becomes the biggest multiplayer game in history.
